Principal's Message
2025-2026 - SPS - Welcome Back to School Letter
The administrators, faculty, and staff of Swainsboro Primary School are excited to welcome our students and families back for what promises to be an outstanding 2025–2026 school year! This school year begins with continued energy and enthusiasm, and we are eager to build on the progress we’ve made while working together for the success of all students.
We are also pleased to welcome Mrs. Meghan Simonin, who will be serving as the new Assistant Principal of the Early Learning Center. Mrs. Simonin brings valuable experience and a passion for early childhood education to our leadership team, and we are excited about the positive impact she will have on our youngest learners.
At Swainsboro Primary School, we are committed to providing students with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. We continue to focus on high-quality, standards-based instruction, striving to meet the individual needs of every student. Our dedicated staff members collaborate through regular planning sessions and professional learning communities to ensure that best practices are consistently applied across the school. Student safety, academic success, and positive character development remain our top priorities.
This year, our school improvement efforts will focus on three key goals:
Goal 1: Increase the number of students performing at or above grade level on the Math and ELA MAP Growth assessments.
Students will be assessed three times a year, and the data will be used by administrators, teachers, and support staff to inform instructional decisions. We will continue to focus strongly on literacy while also intensifying our support for math.
Goal 2: Increase parent participation at face-to-face meetings.
Family engagement is a vital part of student success. We offer numerous opportunities for families to connect with our school, including Family Reading Night, STEM Night, PTO meetings, parent-teacher conferences, student recognition events such as Donuts with Grownups and Character Kid breakfasts, and more. We encourage families to attend and partner with us to support student growth.
Goal 3: Decrease the number of documented discipline events.
We will continue to implement the Character Strong curriculum to promote respect, responsibility, empathy, and cooperation. These lessons help students learn proactive strategies to manage their emotions and behaviors both in the classroom and on the school bus.
To help us meet these goals, we will utilize a staggered intervention time throughout the day, known as Tiger Time, which is supported by our intervention team. During this time, students will receive targeted instruction tailored to their individual academic needs, whether that be intervention, acceleration, or enrichment.
We encourage parents to stay informed and connected through our various communication platforms, including the Swainsboro Primary School website, our Facebook page, Finalsite, and Parent Portal. Staying engaged is one of the most effective ways to support your child’s success.
We’re thrilled to invite everyone to our Open House on July 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher, explore the classroom, and get ready for a great year ahead. On behalf of the entire SPS family, we are looking forward to a school year filled with learning, growth, and joyful experiences. Let’s make 2025–2026 our best year yet!
Sincerely,
Sarah B.Tapley, Principal
