Inclement Weather & School Closures

 INCLEMENT WEATHER / CRISIS DRILLS

  • The study of weather is included as part of the instructional program at Swainsboro Primary. Students need to know what to do in the event of inclement weather, but some students become frightened when conditions become severe.  
  • Full and complete instructions for all inclement weather and crisis drills are reviewed/discussed at our monthly faculty meetings.
  • Fire drills are practiced monthly. Other drills are practiced throughout the year. 

 

CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL

  • In case of severe weather or other emergencies, official information about school closings will be broadcast on local radio stations, posted on social media, sent out through our parent communication system, and/or television stations.  
  • The announcement will be made as soon as the BOE makes a decision about school closing.
