- Students requesting second meals will be charged the prices shown below for a second meal. Prices for a la carte items will be posted at each school.
- Meal prices for adult staff, visitors (adults and children), and second meals are as follows:
- Breakfast: $2.50

- Each student has the option of receiving a tray or bringing their own lunch. We do not advise students to get a tray and bring snack items to eat with their school provided lunch.
**Food from fast food restaurants is not permitted to be brought into the school for your student.
**Iced coffees, slushies, energy drinks, caffeinated beverages, etc. are not allowed at school.
**Students may not receive Door Dash deliveries at school.
**If students have a breakfast purchased at a fast food restaurant, the food/drink need to be finished prior to entering the building.
**Students will not be allowed to walk down the hallway with any unpermitted food or drink item.
**Students bringing their lunch need to have it in a lunch box.
Food Allergies

- Ingredient information for all foods purchased for the School Nutrition Program is available upon request by calling the school nutrition office at 478-237-6674.
- Breakfast is from 7:30- 8:00 a.m. each morning. Students pick up a breakfast from the lunchroom and eat their breakfast in the classroom.

SNACKS AT SCHOOL
- Parents may choose to send a snack from home. Snacks are not provided for our K-2 students.
- Staff supervision is required for eating snacks, and teachers will set designated times and locations for this. State guidelines state that snacks may not be purchased prior to the last lunch being served.
NURSE SERVICES and MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
- Emanuel County School provides the services of a Licensed Practical Nurse on each campus. Their services include first aid, temperature checks, conducting health checks and dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medication with parental consent.
- They also provide information and resource materials on topics of interest or need to both students and parents.
- Teachers do not administer medication at school.
- If your child must take medication while she/he is at school, the parent must complete the following steps:
- Consent to administer medication must be signed by the parent/guardian and given to the nurse. A physician’s statement for prescription drugs must be on file and include the name of the medication, dosage and duration.
- Medicine containers must be clearly labeled by a pharmacy or manufacturer. All medication must be in its original packaging with the doctor’s label.
- The school nurse does not operate a “sick room.” Children who have a contagious illness, who are throwing up or running a fever at or above 100 degrees must be kept at home. Students will be sent home if their fever reaches 100 degrees.
- Parents of students who become sick during the school day will be contacted to pick up their child. If parents cannot be contacted or located in a medical emergency, the school social worker will be called to assist.
STUDENT MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION
Senate Bill 472: Authorizing the self-administration of asthma medication by a student who has asthma, provided that any student who is authorized for self-administration of asthma medication possess or use his or her own medication.
HEAD LICE
Parents of children identified as a host for parasitic head lice or egg material will be contacted by the school nurse or a school administrator. Any student diagnosed with live head lice or egg material will not be sent home early from school. Students can go home at the end of the day, be treated, and return to class after appropriate treatment has begun, and they have been cleared by the school nurse or an administrator. A parent must accompany their child(ren) to school on the first day of return to be cleared for school attendance and bus transportation (if necessary).
