Assemblies & Parties
ASSEMBLIES AT SCHOOL
- Students will be given the opportunity to attend plays and instructional or motivational assemblies at school as part of the instructional program of our school. These include performances and speakers from outside our school. Topics include cultural heritage programs, plays (which are instructional), and others. The majority of programs involve students in our school.
- Parents who do NOT wish for their child to participate in ANY assembly should notify the teacher in writing BEFORE each event. Events will be announced in advance in the weekly letter home. Students not participating in the assembly will be supervised in another classroom (if available) or in the office.
PARTIES AT SCHOOL
- Parties at school will be limited to two per year: One during the December Holiday season and one at the end of the year. Parents sending treats or refreshments to the party must provide enough to share among all the students in the classroom, unless otherwise directed by the teacher.
- No sodas are allowed to be served; please provide punch or juices.
- If parents send Valentine’s or Christmas gifts to one student in the room, they must send them to ALL. Nothing hurts a child more than being “left out” by a classmate.
- Parents are allowed to bring in treats for the class to celebrate their student’s birthday. However, the teacher needs to be contacted and the treats will need to be brought to the front office. Parents are not allowed to come to classrooms for individual birthday celebrations due to the interruption of the instructional time in the classroom.
INVITATIONS TO PARTIES
- Parents may NOT send invitations to outside birthday parties for their child to pass out to “friends” at school inviting them to come to their party.
- Such invitations should be mailed by parents or passed out away from school.
